Join us this May at Runner Up Rooftop and Garden Bar, Collingwood Yards to hear from multi-award winners Phillip Withers and Emmaline Bowman. What drives them to produce a show garden at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show? What is a show gardens role in advocacy, storytelling, climate change, biodiversity in design & material sustainability?

When: Thursday 23 May, 6.00pm - 7.30pm
Where: Runner Up Rooftop Bar, Level 2/35 Johnston St, Collingwood
Cost: Free - Share platters/nibbles will be provided.

Guest Speaker Bios:

PHILLIP WITHERS, AILA RLA
Director at Phillip Withers, has been designing some interesting gardens from a young age, Phil started his design through more art-based development studying a Diploma in Arts at RMIT majoring in screen print design as he learned the art of making clothes. He was then drawn to the garden through Garden Maintenance and patches of Construction. During this time, he was studying a Diploma in Landscape Design and Sustainability at Swinburne and started to form an edgy garden design sense. Phil has grown to become a new breed of garden designer who has the benefit of youthful creative dare, exuberance and contemporary sensibility, as well as developing remarkable experience, designing multiple award-winning show gardens both in Melbourne and Sydney and a growing portfolio of professional work along Australia’s east coast.

EMMALINE BOWMAN
Emmaline, director of STEM landscape Architecture & Design, holds a Bachelor of Design and a Masters in Landscape Architecture. Em believes that every answer can be delivered when you look into nature, & she strives in creating environments that respect Australian flora & fauna in ways that are not only beneficial but beautiful.  Her aim is to reconnect people with the environment, enriching our urban landscapes to foster biodiversity among animals, plants, and ecosystems.
