Jane Jose OAM

Jane Jose OAM received an Order of Australia award in the 2022 Australia Day honours for her contribution to Australia’s cultural and charitable sectors. Her career has centred on engaging communities in local urban, cultural, and public policy that impacts how and where they live.

Jane wrote the City of Adelaide Parklands Management Plan which underpinned a new Act to protect the Adelaide Parklands from development. In NSW, Jane prepared the summary document Western Sydney Parklands Vision 2003 that led to the creation of the Western Sydney Parklands by the NSW Government. In 2006, Jane produced the Village Plans for the City of Sydney. She was a key member of the City of Sydney’s 2030 Strategy team, designing community engagement, writing the final published 2030 Vision, and curating an exhibition of the plan at Sydney’s Custom’s House visited by 300,000.

Author of AIA award-winning Wakefield Press publication Places Women Make, Jane writes about how protecting and creating great public places gives communities delight, belonging and connection in urban life. As an advocate, decision-maker and expert consultant, Jane believes well-designed public places lie at the heart of strong and inclusive communities.
