Situated on the traditional lands of the Dharawal People, Royal National Park sits on coastal Hawkesbury Sandstone and boasts excellent biodiversity of flora associated sandstone derived soils. The Karloo track cuts through different vegetation types and is a good opportunity to observe vegetation communities such as swamp, woodland, and heathland typical of Hawkesbury Sandstone. The track leads to a natural pool with options for swimming, before we backtrack the trail back to the beginning. The entry into the track is right next to Heathcote Train Station. Parking is available at train station also.
What to bring: enclosed walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, drinking bottle, insect repellent, long pants encouraged, swimmers (optional).
Meet at 8:45am to debrief and have some morning tea before our walk. Free event for all!
