AILA QLD Jury Citation:
‘This is an exciting project that has proven that landscape architectural design can make positive changes to a space. It has demonstrated a deep understanding of place developed through an innovative process and applauds its community engagement. The project has transformed an ordinary space into a vivid usable community place for social, cultural and economic activities. The cohesion of landscape design and its relationship across the ground and vertical planes is skilfully executed to optimise the experience and creativity/identity within the public realm in its day/night-time transitions. The project has also demonstrated a high level of community engagement and collaboration with local Indigenous artists, highlighting a respect for Country and First Nations people's connection to the place. Placemaking strategies and outcomes are articulated well to the local culture.’
