Minister briefing for AILA VIC members

Join Hon. Sonya Kilkenny, Minister for Planning and Minister for Suburbs, for a member briefing on the new Plan for Victoria. This is an opportunity for AILA VIC members to hear directly from the Minister about the next steps to address Victoria's housing and land use needs over the coming decades.

AILA VIC is undertaking two submissions for Plan for Victoria: One a joint submission with industry partners (AIA, PIA and Urban Design Forum) and another for AILA VIC. This session is an opportunity for AILA VIC members to input into Plan for Victoria via our submissions. There will be a presentation by the Minister and a Q and A session. Background information from the Victorian Government:

Developing a new plan for Victoria: Help us shape the future for Victoria

We are developing a new plan for Victoria that will build on Victoria’s Housing Statement and set out the next steps to address the state’s 2050 housing and land use needs, while supporting jobs growth, protecting the environment, and ensuring Victoria is more resilient to climate change. Self-determination and caring for Country will also be a strong focus and embedded throughout the plan. Victoria’s Housing Statement: A new plan for Victoria

We’ll update Plan Melbourne – the Victorian Government’s current metropolitan planning strategy spanning 2017-2050 – and expand it to cover the whole state. A new plan for Victoria will set into action what our state will look like over coming decades. It’ll focus on delivering more homes near transport, job opportunities and essential services in vibrant, liveable, and sustainable neighbourhoods.

A new plan for Victoria will bring to life our target for 70 per cent of new homes to be built in established areas, while making sure growth areas deliver 30 per cent of new homes. We will establish local government targets for where those homes will be built. The plan will set our regions and rural areas up to thrive.  Read more >> https://www.vic.gov.au/long-term-housing-plan
