MASTERCLASS | Plant Fundamentals: Presented by Jac Semmler (Super Bloom)
Join Jac Semmler, horticulturalist and lead plant practitioner at Super Bloom for an in-person masterclass into the fundamentals of plants, how they grow and why with a focus of plants in design. We encourage emerging/early career landscape architects to join a fun, plant nerding session with ample room for questions and discussion to increase our understanding and share our enthusiasm for the plant world. The masterclass will include a hands-on cultivation, together with plant samples to take home.

Learning Outcomes:
- Why plants? Beyond ‘softscape’ thinking
- Introduction to plant life cycles and the major plant groups
- Botanical basics, plant growth and establishment
- Approaches to planting design
- Practical parameters to plant selection
- Considerations for care and management
Intended Audience:
Registered Landscape Architects working in public or private practice with 1-5 years' experience. Recommended for emerging-early career practitioners who have not undertaken studies in horticulture or botany. This masterclass will have a focus on human level planting (i.e. shrubs and smaller plants).
Materials:
Students will be sent an electronic resource after the masterclass. Activity may involve getting your hands dirty. Please bring a pen and notebook, a small bag or box to carry plant samples home.
Capacity:
Places are limited to 20 participants. (Min of 10 registrants required).
