Boyd McMillan RLA
AILA member Boyd McMillan became an accredited Landscape Architect in 1986 and has continued since then to pursue a dual career working as a Registered Landscape Architect and exhibiting in drawing, painting and sculpture.
Boyd works from impressions and experiences gained while walking and drawing in natural and wilderness areas.
Drawings are often made on large sheets laid on the ground or rock and directly reflect the constraints and chance events that occur working in this manner.
Sculptures explore drawing in metal using lightweight materials with painted and patinated surfaces in response to the experiences of walking.
Studio paintings travel further along the path of suggestion and light derived from the makings of drawing and sculpture.
All work is built on the frame of landscape informed by the experience of the bush, its weather and the animals that live there.
