I Was Here - Chart Collective

Chart Collective is a not-for-profit publishing venture from Melbourne that explores the way stories are woven into environment and place. They’re interested in looking beyond the idea that people are separate to nature and see backyards as inextricably linked to wider narratives of land and climate. Chart publishes text, image and sound, online and in print, as well as hosting in-situ events, exploring ideas in whichever format best suits a concept, a community or a contributor.

Chart Collective invites the community to share their private moments of joy and catastrophe in the multi-site publishing project, I Was Here. For the duration of the festival, posters featuring true stories submitted by the public will be installed near the site where each story took place. The result will be a freely accessible publication which overlays the city’s exterior with the community’s intimate interior lives.

Chart is open from now until 5 October for anonymous submissions of true stories that took place in the streets, laneways, parks and buildings of Melbourne's CBD. Everyone is welcome to share their story. Go to www.chartcollective.org/project/i-was-here to be part of the project.

I Was Here is generously supported by Wonderment Walk Victoria.

Great societies are defined through their art, science and knowledge. Wonderment Walk Victoria will strengthen Melbourne's reputation as a creative city of knowledge by enhancing walking routes connecting places of significance with sculptural wonderments. We aim to create accessible open-air galleries of artworks, sculptures and installations combining science, mathematics and art to engage passers-by with wonder, delight and curiosity.
