Join us for the 2022 AILA NSW Regional Salon and Christmas Party.  The garden is an experimental design, environmental and heritage education project. Phytoremediation is a low cost, natural process where plants absorb harmful toxins from the soil.

The Team at the University of Newcastle, led by Sue Anne Ware, will lead discussions and small group tours at the AILA 2022 NSW Award winning project- Delprat Garden.

Please come join AILA NSW at the DelPrat Gardens for an exciting salon event. The Delprat Garden project is collaboration between the Newcastle Industrial Heritage Association, UoN School of Architecture and Built Environment, Bosque Landscape Architecture, and UTS PhytoLab scientists. The garden is an experimental design, environmental and heritage education project. It aims to activate the garden and cottage through an educational and artistic programme of public events while serving as a living phytoremediation laboratory. Phytoremediation is a low cost, natural process where plants absorb harmful toxins from the soil. Located at the Delprat Cottage (Mayfield, NSW) on former BHP land, the garden aims to. restore degraded land in a beautiful, expressive and educative manner.

The team at University of Newcastle led by SueAnne Ware and Bosque LA, Chris Johnstone will lead the discussions and workshops on the day to showcase on site the AILA Awards winning project Delprat Gardens, the film ‘Humus’,  and explore themes around site remediation, resilience, pollinators, biodiversity, and land management.

Regional Christmas Celebrations

We invite all attendees to join us after the Salon to celebrate the 2022 year, with Christmas drinks, nibbles and cheer at the Young St Hotel. We will also recognise our new 2022 RLAs in the region. So, gather your colleagues, and join us!
