2022 AILA SUN Mooloolaba Foreshore and End of Year Event

AILA SUN are hosting a project and cultural tour for the recently completed first stage of the Mooloolaba Foreshore Revitalisation Project.   Following this tour will be the AILA SUN’s end of year celebration at Pavilion Mooloolaba on the esplanade to catch up with industry colleagues and celebrate the end of the 2022 year.

Alongside the design team presentation Aunty Bridgette Chilli will provide an overview of the local Kabi Kabi meanings and stories of Mooloolaba and it’s surrounding coastal landscape.

The Northern Parkland, nestled on a hectare between the Alexandra Headland and Mooloolaba Esplanade is a multi-level beachfront parkland, complete with a 200-metre accessible boardwalk, viewing platforms, state-of-the-art playground, renewed seawall, public amenities, and community infrastructure. Sunshine Coast residents have a deep connection to the natural landscape, its landforms and sense of place.

The Mooloolaba foreshore project requires the delivery of these key principles on a broad scale, in the public realm and we will unpack the early thinking and how this has evolved with the many site considerations to deliver this exciting community parkland. The presentation will include input from the various designers that have been involved along the whole journey with the new Mooloolaba Foreshore project presenting their design thinking. It will delve deeper into the architectural and landscape design, construction challenges, planning milestones, and how community input helped shape the new space. Earlier this month, Mooloolaba’s Northern Parkland won Project of the Year at IPWAEQ industry awards programs.

Following the project and cultural tour the event will move up to the bar area of Pavilion Mooloolaba, where we will have the chance to catch up and network with industry colleagues whilst canapes will be available as part of AILA SUN’s Christmas party.
