CEO Message from Ben Stockwin

Dear AILA members,

Over the past three years, and with the support of our members and committees, AILA has made significant strides in raising the profile of landscape architecture with all levels of government.  We are proud to support the profession in securing a seat at the policy table.

This week, you will have received your AILA membership renewal notice. By renewing your membership, you not only affirm your commitment to the profession but also enable AILA to expand its influence and secure valuable partnerships and funding. This, in turn, enhances the value of your membership and the benefits it brings.

In 2024/25, our key initiatives will include:

  • Revising our membership and registration structure to ensure an equitable and inclusive model without compromising standards or regulatory standing.
  • Collaborating with the tertiary education sector to support accredited programs, ensuring a growing pipeline of future landscape architects.
  • Advocating with state and territory authorities for the appointment of state government landscape architects and increasing recognition of the RLA standard as a mark of quality and professional excellence.
  • Relaunching our beloved Festival to ensure its longevity, relevance, and sustainability.
  • Launching a refreshed Jobs Board to help you find top talent for your organisation and secure your dream role effortlessly.

In addition to supporting our advocacy efforts, your membership grants you exclusive access to a growing number of benefits:

  • Free access to a variety of CPD webinars and virtual project tours to enhance your knowledge and skillset.
  • Free or heavily discounted access to high quality CPD aligned with your professional needs.
  • Invitations to numerous networking, social, and physical events to build your professional connections in a supportive and fun atmosphere.
  • Complimentary subscription to our professional journal, Landscape, available in digital or print format.
  • Opportunities to enter your projects in our chapter and national awards program, showcasing your talent to colleagues and the community.
  • The chance to join an AILA committee, Chapter Executive, or Board, influencing the future direction of AILA and the profession.
  • And many other benefits, detailed in our member benefits guide.

Please note, due to the increasing cost of operations, we have adjusted our membership fees by 4% for 2024/25. This equates to approximately one cup of coffee per month or fifty cents per week. Our aim is to provide value far beyond this increase, working together to grow a dynamic and respected profession that creates great places supporting healthy communities and a sustainable planet.

The time for landscape architecture is now, and we trust you will continue to support the profession through your membership. For any questions or to explore membership options, please visit our membership page.

Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to the landscape architecture profession.

Warm regards,

Ben Stockwin
