Meet Jackie Reilly, AILA Cultural Ambassador

During NAIDOC Week, we would like to shine a spotlight on AILA's Cultural Ambassadors, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people who have entered a partnership with AILA to provide cultural guidance relating to Country, generally through the National Connection to Country Committee. Our thanks to AILA Cultural Ambassadors for their guidance, and for the knowledge they share with us.

What does NAIDOC Week mean to you?

NAIDOC to me is the one week of the year I look forward to the most, it's like Christmas in July.

What does this year's NAIDOC Theme mean to you?

This year's theme to me means, reflecting on the referendum result but also moving on and continuing the hard work our allies and community members have done for generations before us.

How do you view your role as Cultural Ambassador?

I view my role as Cultural Ambassador as a very important role and a role that I feel very privileged to have been offered, nothing gives me more joy then being able to educate people about my culture and the importance of country.
