The NSW Minister for Infrastructure, Cities and Active Transport, the Hon. Rob Stokes, has just announced the second round of projects under the Streets as Shared Spaces program.

This announcement is in alignment with the AILA NSW Advocacy Committee’s goals and directives, over the last few years advocating for greener places throughout NSW, and the prioritisation of biodiverse, green space for people in our streets through the reclamation of road space.

The second round of Streets as Shared Spaces funding for 40 councils across the State will see projects including:

  • Trial street closures to create new public spaces and space for outdoor dining;
  • 30kph speed limit trials and street design interventions to encourage lower speeds; and,
  • Unlocking public space in laneways to improve walkability and revitalise the City Centre.
