Tim Connor & Andrew Prowse, FNQ Co-Chairs

Greetings from North Queensland.

It’s been a busy time up here and there is plenty going on within the industry. We are looking forward to hosting the Dark Skies presentation and lighting walk on 8 September in Cairns with WE-EF and Raylinc Lighting along with the Australian Institute of Horticulture (AIH) – this is a free event so make sure you register to attend.

Here are some of our recent highlights from NQ:
Andrew Prowse spoke at the Urban Heat Seminar in Cairns with PIA and the AIA.
Tim Connor is representing AILA on the Townsville City Council placemaking advisory committee.
David Wilson from Cairns Regional Council was part of the AILA Qld Landscape Architecture Awards Jury – thank you David for representing the region.
Reconciliation Rocks Precinct Development, Cooktown from LA3 won a Landscape Architecture Award for Cultural Heritage at the Qld Landscape Architecture Awards – Congratulations to Andrew and the LA3 team.

The increase in AILA and allied profession online events and forums has been great for North Queensland members to get more involved with AILA and the industry but we’re also happy to have some local events back like the Urban Heat Seminar and the upcoming Dark Skies event.

We look forward to catching up with our local members and other AILA members who might be travelling to North Queensland – feel free to let us know if you are.
