2022 QLD Annual Chapter Meeting

AILA QLD Chapter President, Tessa Leggo and Chapter Manager, Melanie West, hit the road to meet with Local Government Representatives in Toowoomba and Ipswich.

We had the opportunity to meet with Cr Meegan O'Hara, Toowoomba Regional Council and Damian from Lat27 to discuss the importance studies done in the Toowoomba region. It was a wonderful opportunity to share with the representatives the import role Landscape Architects play in communities. "Toowoomba Regional Council is proud to have a major project honoured at the AILA QLD Chapter Awards" said Toowoomba Regional Council and Planning and Development Committee Chair Cr Megan O'Hara Sullivan.

LatStudios was commissioned by Toowoomba Regional Council through a tender process to prepare both studies, which form part of the Toowoomba Region Futures Program, led by Toowoomba Regional Council, which is the first of four stages to prepare a new planning scheme for the Region.

The success of the project relied heavily on obtaining accurate information on the opinions and preferences of the Toowoomba community, which proved challenging with the onset of a global health pandemic and there was a need to think outside the box to connect with the large community.

Thank you to the Chronicle, National Tribune and ABC Radio Southern Queensland for covering the story . Link to all our 2022 AILA QLD Awards media below.

Ipswich

Our Second stop was Ipswich where we met with State Member Jennifer Howard MP, Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding, Cr Andrew Fechner, Cr Marnie Doyle, Ipswich City Council  to further discuss and celebrate the following award winning projects with our winning practices:
