The 2023 Festival of Landscape Architecture: UN/EARTH is to be held at Tarntanya/ Adelaide on Kaurna Meyunna Yerta between October 19-22 and as Chair of the SA Connection to Country Committee I am honoured to have a seat at the table with the Festival Consulting Committee.

The Committee met recently and Creative Directors: Lyndon Slavin, Dr Tanya Court, Dr Scott Hawken and Gemma Kleinig have done great work on the program so far and we look forward to hearing more about it as discussions progress.

Reconciliation Principles for your landscape practice.

In response to interest from smaller practices about including RAPs and acknowledgements of Country in their business plans, Kate James and Sally have been working on a proposal for Developing Reconciliation Guidelines/Principles for landscape architects to be facilitated by Kuma Kaaru Cultural Services Pty Ltd and held at ODASA in August 2023. More details coming soon.

This proposal for a series of themed workshops draws on findings from last year’s Festival COUNTRY and aims to equip small firms with skills and information to develop their own reconciliation principles and strategies for their practice and projects.

The Voice

The release of the proposed wording of the Constitution by the Government recently has prompted some to wonder if Labour hadn’t jumped the gun.

I feel as if some people are stumbling over each other to try and make things right. But some things can’t be rushed. The right conversations need to be had with the right people at the right time and in the right place.
