The membership category of Fellowship is an honour that AILA may bestow upon registered members of AILA, and is made in recognition of distinguished service to AILA and/or the profession in Australia.

The criteria for fellowship are:

a. Distinguished service to AILA and/or 
b. Distinguished service to the profession of landscape architecture in Australia at either/or both a national and state level.

Nomination procedure

  1. The AILA National Board, through its National Honours Committee will call for nominations once a year. 
  2. The initial nomination of the Registered Member is to be undertaken confidentially, without the knowledge of the member. 
  3. The AILA Fellow Nomination Form is to be completed by two registered members acting as Proposer and Seconder. 
  4. A 'Citation' is to be completed by the Proposer and Seconder, and is to accompany the completed AILA Fellow Nomination Form (see following information).
  5. The completed nomination form and citation, along with a CV (if possible) are to be presented confidentially to the relevant State Executive, for the purposes of verifying the information, providing any additional supporting information, and supporting the nomination. 
  6. After the State Executive has endorsed the nomination, the completed nomination form and citation, along with a CV (if possible) are to be forwarded via email through to office ([email protected]).  
  7. The AILA National Honours Committee will evaluate the nomination at their next available scheduled meeting, and make recommendations to the AILA National Board for their endorsement or otherwise.  


2021/22 timeline – nominations timeline coming soon

The intention is for nominations to be considered by the National Honours Committee and the AILA National Board once a year, to allow co-ordinated assessment, publicity, and conferment ceremonies.
